Cabaret du Casino de Montreal - Montreal. Overall the talent was very good. The volume was way too high from where we were seated and we had to leave. Kinda felt like a cheap cruise entertainment strip tease when the ‘lady Gaga’ but was going on with the girls bums hanging out of their costumes. Cabaret en fête is a celebration of 50 years of hit music from the 1960’s right up to today. Produced by Groupe Bazz and one of the Cabaret du Casino’s biggest productions, this night is jam packed with great music and great talent. Cabaret en fête stars Nancy Fortin, Martin Lacasse, David Latulippe, and Rita Tabbakh alongside a team of skilled dancers and a group of exceptional musicians.

With musical inspiration from the late 60’s to the hit songs you hear on the radio today, Cabaret en fête takes you on a musical journey with all of your favorite songs and memories. The stage comes alive as the show opens with the sounds of the 60’s in a medley containing hit songs such as Sam & Dave’s “Soul Man,” Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” and even “Think” by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

As the night continues, the music ventures through the 70’s with songs such as “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind & Fire and a stellar ABBA where the crowd is on their feet singing along to “Dancing Queen,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight), and of course “Mamma Mia.”

The 80’s are represented with the hits of Prince and Kool & The Gang. The 90’s take us back to the music of George Michael, Jennifer Lopez, House of Pain, and the Spice Girls. Today’s music is highlighted with music from Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Daft Punk, DNCE, and Maroon 5.

Some of the planets biggest hits are performed throughout the show, with special attention major superstars such as Adele, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars. Fortin shone brightly as she belted out “Someone Like You” and “Rolling In The Deep” as effortlessly as Adele does, and Tabbakh gave us her best Lady Gaga while performing “Poker Face,” “Bad Romance,” and “Born This Way.” Lacasse had the crowd roaring while he performed some of Mars’ hits including “Uptown Funk” and “Locked Out of Heaven.”

Music has touched my soul since day one. Whether it is performing or sitting down with some of the biggest names in music, I can always be found sharing my profoundly tender affection of music with anyone who will listen. Being a music journalist has allowed me to expand my knowledge of music and interact with some of my biggest childhood heroes. From days of radio broadcasting to sitting back, kicking off my cowboy boots and sharing my adventures with likeminded music fans online has been nothing short of amazing. Canada is full of true musical talent and I look forward to continuing to share my adventures in music with you.
